I recently read an article by Andy Stanley entitled, “Music Matters”. He wrote, “I’m convinced that there’s something inescapable about music. It transforms words into lyrics. It changes walls into bridges. It turns listening ears into listening hearts. As a performer, as a listener, as a visitor who might end up in a most unexpected place on a Sunday morning, music has a transformational power. And it moves people in ways that even the best communicator cannot. Music matters. It’s not just songs. Or musicians. Or lights and equipment. Music is much more than that. Music is a doorway to worship.”

It’s true, music IS a strategic doorway to worship, but let’s not stop there. Music is a powerful tool that helps usher us into God’s presence, but it’s just a small piece of what worship really is and it’s only 1 doorway. Paul said to the Corintihians, “Whether I eat, drink or whatever I do, I do it all for the glory of the Lord.” Worship is more than nice vocal harmonies, strums on a guitar, great drum fills and climactic dynamic musical moments. Worship is a lifestyle that involves offering everything we have to God (Rom. 12:1, 2) – our hearts, talents, thoughts, plans, dreams, desires, words, actions and our music. When we choose to worship God with every aspect of our lives and live a lifestyle of worship, it will transform our bodies into a Holy Spirit temple (I Cor. 6:19) where His glory can dwell 24/7. Then there’s no end to the potential of what God can do in and through us. Worship matters most! Music is just one tool that helps us get there.

Jeremiah 29:13 & 14 (NET) says, “When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me… If you seek me with all your heart and soul, I will make myself available to you, says the Lord.” The Message bible says it this way: “Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” Wow! Let’s use every tool we have to worship our awesome God, not holding back in any way. THEN we will find and experience ALL that He has for us, and we will realize just how much worship matters…
